Behringer FCB1010 Extras HOWTO

NOTE: in order to use all these extra features, you need the v2.4 ROM upgrade.

v2.4 upgrade

3 New Sets of 100 Factory Presets

The 2.4 offers three different sets of factory presets depending on which type of product you'd like to control with the FCB1010. Hold the buttons 1+6 when powering the FCB1010 up, to activate the presets for V-AMP products (V-AMP 2, V-AMP PRO, V-AMPIRE) Hold the buttons 1+7 when powering the FCB1010 up, to activate the presets for guitar workstations (GX110, GX112, AC112, GX210, GX212) Hold the buttons 1+8 when powering the FCB1010 up, to activate the presets for BASS V-AMP products (BASS V-AMP, BASS V-AMP PRO)

New Pedal Calibration Function

The 2.4 Update allows to access the pedal calibration mode directly, without passing through the entire test routines. Just press buttons 1 + 5 while powering your FCB1010 up (VAL 1 LED on). First bring the expression pedal A to the up position and confirm with UP (VAL 2 LED turns on), then put the pedal A down and also confirm with UP (VAL 1 LED turns on). Now proceed with moving expression pedal B to the up position, and confirm with UP (VAL 2 LED turns on). Finally push expression pedal B down and confirm pressing UP. Now the pedals of your FCB1010 are calibrated and settings are automatically stored.

New Non-Latching Relay Function

The relay switches which can be used to control external analog equipment, can now be configured to be non-latching. This means that their contacts are only closed as long as the preset button is depressed. Many effects units and also our BEHRINGER guitar workstations react on a switch impulse rather than on the switch's status. When activating the global setup / config menu the buttons 1 and 2 are used to determine whether the relays are used for static or dynamic control, e.g. when the LED 1 is on but LED 2 is off, this means switch 1 will be latching and switch 2 will be only temporarily closed. Thus, if the FCB1010 is required to replace the FS112 footswitches that come with our BEHRINGER Guitar Workstations, both LEDs must be off.

Bugfix in Tap Tempo Calculation

In some situations the FCB1010 tap tempo routine delivered wrong controller values. This function can be used for any equipment that does not provide a tap function, but allows to set up timing prameters via MIDI CC. The FCB1010 measures the time between two hits on the button and computes the appropriate CC value for the receiving device (see chapter 2.6 in the manual). We now taught it how to calculate correctly ;-)

v2.3 upgrade

Bank Select

We have changed the order in which MIDI commands are transmitted with one preset, so that PRG CHG 5 is now transmitted after both of the fixed control changes CNT 1 and CNT 2. As a result, you can effortlessly change one MIDI bank and recall one program in a new bank with just one hit of a button.

Program changes 1-4 are still transmitted before the control changes, so that you can change one recently recalled program with CNT 1 or CNT 2.

We have also built in additional security mechanisms which further increase the stability of the FCB1010.

v2.2 upgrade

Copying Presets

Activate CONFIG in the GLOBAL SETUP (see chapter 2.2 of the manual). Now, press footswitch 5 to activate the copy function. (The VALUE 1 LED lights up and the number in the display starts flashing.) Enter the number of the preset you wish to copy and confirm your selection with UP/ENTER. Presets 1 - 10 are stored in bank 0, presets 11 - 20 in bank 1, and so on. (The VALUE 2 LED lights up and the number in the display starts flashing.) Enter the target preset and confirm your selection with UP/ENTER, or cancel with DOWN/ESCAPE. If you want to copy further presets, please press footswitch 5 again. Press and hold DOWN/ESCAPE to quit the GLOBAL SETUP.

Toggling between two controller values in a patch

Allows you to configure one controller so that it alternately sends two different values, e.g. effect bypass, drive on/off, etc. In order to enable the controller switch-over function, you need to globally select the same MIDI channel for CNT1 and CNT2 (see chapter 2.2), and enter the same controller number for CNT1 and CNT2 in the preset (NUMBER, see chapter 2.3.2). The first time you recall the preset, it will send the controller value of CNT1 (VALUE 1), with each additional key press you can alternate between CNT2 and CNT1. Example: Select preset 1 without DRIVE function on the BEHRINGER V-AMP each time you press the same button again, DRIVE will be switched on or off respectively: PROG CHG 1 = 1, CNT 1 NUMBER = 26, VALUE 1 = 0, CNT 2 NUMBER = 26, VALUE 1 = 127.
